New York City Characters
NYC Ensemble
New Yorkers costume from their own winter wardrobes. Think about where your character is headed — a holiday party, Christmas shopping, a Broadway show, commuting to work, or sightseeing around the city. Layer up but avoid heavy fabrics that will feel warm under stage lights.
Pro tip for directors: encourage ensemble members to team up with their friends in the show and create a shared backstory. Maybe three students are tourists visiting New York, college students home for the holidays, or coworkers heading to a Christmas party. It adds visual cohesion and makes the ensemble feel intentional from every seat in the house.
